About me
How did you start illustrating recipes?
I come from a family with a lot of artistic talent. I have been observing art all my life, collecting illustrations, especially food illustrations. Besides, I love cooking, it relaxes me, and I'm good at it.
For more than fifteen years I have been teaching languages to adults, but during the pandemic, I was offered to teach language and cooking classes at the same time and in those courses, my students and I had a great time, practising German while baking Strudel, or practising Spanish, while frying potatoes to make an omelette. So I started to teach cooking courses in person as well.
I live far away from my family and I have realised that, among the things I miss the most, is the food, the food at home, my mother's food. But here in Bavaria, where I live, my partner's mother spoiled me a lot. Every time I came back from a trip, she had a cake waiting for me, and almost every weekend she would make me an Apfelstrudel, a cake, a Braten....
When she passed away, the warmth of her kitchen went with her. I began to reflect on the importance of family recipes.
I felt the need to compile these recipes in a collection of illustrations. And at that moment, that artistic part of me, of my family, of me dared to come out....
After drawing almost all the recipes from my memory, I started to illustrate the recipes from the memories of others. The family recipes of those who trust me to keep that special legacy.
My clients like my illustrations to reflect their culinary heritage. Their recipe illustrations inspire them to preserve and cook those traditional recipes, whose tastes and smells evoke so much warmth and love.
